This release of the shoutbox fixes a IE issue and characters like > & " will display correctly. I also uploaded the first beta of the Archive component. You can see how it works by clicking "View archive".
The backend of this component also lets you delete all messages with one click. Easy if you need to empty your shoutbox. The amount of shouts displayed can be entered in the modules parameters of the shoutbox.

In beta4 if you enter a url and send a shout, it makes your name red with a link to the url . If you then erase the url and send mesages everything appears fine. If you refresh the site, it automatically fills in the url with the last url you typed in (regardless of the fact that the last url was actually blank). Its quite annoying, and I was wondering if this was fixed with this new b5 version?

my bad, i meant beta 3,.... it seems that this beta 5 isnt availible for free? I understand how you woudl take away features, but dont you think you should apply patches and bug fixes to all versions? To be honest, I dont feel comfortable buying something if when i test it it has bugs.

I thought Beta 5 was worth the $10 Cdn. So far, so good. There were a couple of little bugs within my template, but nothing too serious. I'd like to know how to erase all messages, though.

Greenmonkey you're right that's a bug, will be fixed in the next version.
Of course I will apply the fixes to the free version but at the moment I'm just too busy. The free version will be updated when i have some time. If there were security fixes i would update sooner of course.
Barbara: you can delete all the messages by installing the component. Now go the the administrator -> shoutbox and select display all. Then click the checkbox on the top to select all and finally press delete. Maybe i'll add a shortcut for this

Thanks for working so hard for us
I'm a bit of a joomla newbie, been working with it about a month, and I cannot follow these directions to delete from the backend:
"you can delete all the messages by installing the component. Now go the the administrator -> shoutbox and select display all. Then click the checkbox on the top to select all and finally press delete."
Is there something I am missing? Another post led me to believe there was another component/plugin I needed to download for this, however I cannot find one.
