A small bug was found in the RC 3 and has been fixed in the RC 4. If a user had disabled javascript he was not able to post a shout. 

Just a quick post to let you know that the Pro version of the shoutbox has been updated to RC3. New features in this release are: CAPTCHA, Banned & Bad words functionality. Have fun!

Get ready for a major upgrade of the pro version. Last weeks we have been busy developing some great additional features for the shoutbox. To start with the most wanted feature: Captcha. Spam has been some major issue on several websites. Most times spam is prevented by adding captcha. However if a user is asked to fill out the required security check everytime he wants to shout it stops the fun. Therefore the captcha in this version of the shoutbox remembers your answer so you only answer once!

Banned & Bad words

Another frequently asked functionality is banned and bad words. Banned words means that for example if you enter viagra the shout is not added. Bad words works similar but instead of not adding the shout the word is replaced by ###.

At the moment I'm cleaning up the code and fixing the last bugs. The release of this version will probably be within 2-3 days. A demo can be seen here.

The first release candidate has been released! This release contains only bug fixes and doesn't add new features to the shoutbox. The following bugs were fixed:

• 500 Internal server error
• Date on the component archieve is fixed
• Option to turn sound completly off
• " : > also works on php4 now

This first RC is only available for the Pro version. I know some of you guys are waiting for an update of the free version. At the moment I'm just too busy, but you can expect and update to the free version soon. Update: the RC is also available for the free version now.
